Community meeting: Multi-vehicle simulation with ROS 2 and Gazebo

Hello community,

During the next Gazebo meeting we’ll see some ROS 2 and Gazebo integration to control multiple vehicles in Gazebo!

Open Robotics and TII have developed a ROS 2 and pluginlib-based C++ library that can interface with several vehicle SDK’s. The current state of the API allows to interface with PX4 Autopilot and Betaflight (experimental). This talk will introduce some of the packages that allow to compile the supported autopilots, download and install the ground stations and simulate the vehicles in Gazebo. We will also introduce the CPP and Python API, end-to-end testing in CI, multirobot support and finally we will see the robots in action.

Here’s the agenda:

  1. Latest Gazebo news - Michael Carrol (Intrinsic)
  2. Vehicle gateway: an API to interface with many vehicle SDK’s - Alejandro Hernandez (Open Robotics)
  3. Optional: Lighting talks

We opened a slot for short (3 minutes) lighting presentations. If you’re interested in talking about your Gazebo project contact me (caguero AT openrobotics DOT org) and I’ll book your slot.
