Community meeting: Ionic (September 2024)

Hello Community!

It’s time for a new Gazebo release! Ionic will be our 9th Gazebo iteration and will be announced at the end of this month.

We’ll make a presentation including some demos about the latest features in Gazebo Ionic.

Here’s a summary of some of the news:

  • New improved Gazebo doc website
  • Support specifying plugins in SDF files without overriding
  • Logging using spdlog
  • Improved ros_gz ergonomics
  • gz-transport improvements
  • Improved bullet-featherstone implementation
  • Convex decomposition for collision meshes
  • Partial support for kinematic mode
  • Support for cone primitive shape
  • Camera tracking GUI plugin
  • Deterministic system execution
  • Spacecraft thruster
  • Topic frequency measurement
  • Remove systems if their parent entity is removed
  • Dynamic material control
  • Gazebo ROS vendor packages
