Community Meeting: "Andino: Democratizing Robotics with an Affordable Educational Robot and Open-Source Technologies"

Hello everybody, it’s that time again! We have one more meeting before the Gazebo Ionic release.

Franco Cipollone will present Andino, an open source platform, integrated with our ecosystem.

“In today’s rapidly evolving world, technology is shaping the future, and robotics plays a pivotal role in this transformation. At Ekumen, we are committed to breaking down barriers and making robotics accessible to everyone, leveraging open-source communities. With that commitment in mind, we proudly introduce Andino – an innovative, low-budget open-source differential drive robot designed specifically for educational purposes, making it affordable for a wider audience. Alongside this, Andino comes with an ecosystem that allows you to dive into other widely used technologies. Andino’s foundation is rooted in ROS-based frameworks such as ROS Control and integrated with several technologies like Nav2, Open RMF, and simulators like Gazebo Classic, Gazebo (recommended), Webots, O3DE, and Isaac Sim.”

Agenda:

  1. Latest Gazebo news - Addisu Tadesse (Intrinsic)
  2. " Andino: Democratizing Robotics with an Affordable Educational Robot and Open-Source Technologies". Franco Cipollone (Ekumen)

We opened a slot for short (3 minutes) lighting presentations. If you’re interested in talking about your Gazebo project contact me (caguero AT openrobotics DOT org) and I’ll book your slot.
