Community meeting: ign_ros2_control and ign_bazel

Hi, community! :ignition:

We are continuing our community meetings for 2022 with another installment. This time around we have two presentations about integrating ros2_control with your Ignition simulations as well as how to build Ignition with the bazel build system.

ign_ros2_control

Ignition gazebo allows to simulate different kind of joints in your models, but how do you move this joint though ROS 2?

In this talk we will talk about ign_ros2_control, a Ignition Gazebo plugin which instantiates the ros2_control controller manager and connects it to a Gazebo model allowing to move articulated arms or mobile bases. We will also discuss how to migrate your plugin running gazebo_ros2_control to Ignition.

Bazel is an open-source build and test tool that can be used as an alternative to make and cmake. Bazel has an emphasis on determinism in the build, which allows it to be a fast and reliable build tool.

In this talk, we will discuss the process of adding Bazel build support for the Ignition repositories as well as demonstrating some of the benefits of using bazel as a build tool.
