Last week on January 25th, 2021, Gazebo 7 reached its official EOL (end-of-life). It was the first 5-year LTS (long-term support) version of Gazebo, and marked Gazebo’s switch from 6-month to 1-year release cycles.
Gazebo 7 introduced some key features, including the integration of Ignition Math. It was an official Ubuntu Xenial package, and paired with ROS Kinetic. Notable projects that used Gazebo 7 include ARIAC 2017, SRCSim, and Robocup3DS, among others. It was also the first Gazebo version supported on AWS RoboMaker.
Several libraries have reached their EOL along with Gazebo 7. Their latest released binaries will remain available at packages.osrfoundation.org, but support will no longer be available.

We recommend all Gazebo 7 users migrate to a supported release, like Gazebo 11 (latest LTS release), or to Ignition Gazebo as soon as possible. Be sure to check each project’s migration guide.
